Blog post content
The digital market is more mature than ever. Companies invest in content, performance, and security, while search engines continue to evolve. Yet the core of on-page SEO hardly changes. What does change are user expectations and the quality bar.
In the Netherlands, a very large portion of the population uses the internet to look up information about products. In 2023, approximately 85% did so actively. This underlines how important it is that your pages are fast, clear, and relevant.
Mobile usage also remains decisive. In 2024–2025, traffic in the Netherlands is roughly evenly split between desktop and mobile, which means your site must perform flawlessly on both.
Speed and stability remain a priority
Speed is a direct UX and SEO factor. Google/SOASTA research shows that the probability of a bounce increases by 32% when load time rises from 1 to 3 seconds. Speed clearly pays off. Optimize images, use caching, and load only what is necessary.
Titles, meta descriptions, and search intent
A clear title and meta description largely determine whether your result gets clicked. Google recommends descriptions that summarize the content briefly, relevantly, and invitingly. Write for humans, align with search intent, and avoid keyword stuffing.
Structure and scannability
Good structure helps both users and search engines. Use one H1 per page and logical H2/H3s for subtopics. People scan web pages in patterns such as the F-pattern, making clear headings, short paragraphs, and visual hierarchy especially important.
Internal links and healthy keyword coverage
Internal links distribute authority and help visitors move forward. Link contextually with natural, informative anchor texts. Keep your main keyword present in the title, introductory paragraph, and a handful of subheadings or paragraphs, but above all write for the user. Natural coverage works better than rigid density percentages.
E-E-A-T and structured data
Show expertise and reliability with concrete examples, cases, and reviews. Add structured data where relevant. Google confirms that structured data can make you eligible for rich results, which can make your listing more attractive and encourage interaction.
Local visibility
If you operate regionally or locally, consistency in name, address, and phone number is essential. Google Business Profile recommends complete and up-to-date business information and emphasizes relevance, distance, and prominence as the most important ranking factors for local results.
Accessibility and privacy: now also compliance-critical
Accessible sites are more usable and future-proof. The European Accessibility Act comes into force on 28 June 2025 and expands the scope of accessibility requirements for digital services in the EU. This makes WCAG-compliant choices strategically and legally relevant.
The same applies to privacy. The Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens mandates clear, choice-friendly cookie banners and specifies when consent is required. The Rijksoverheid also clarifies that tracking cookies may only be used with prior consent.
Where things still go wrong
Many organizations underestimate technical performance, leave structured data unused, or implement cookie consent incompletely. The result: higher bounce rates, missed rich results, and enforcement risks. With a solid on-page plan, you can prevent this and build sustainable visibility.
